Extension Cables vs. Compensating Wires:

Extension Cables: The conductor alloy is exactly the same as the corresponding thermocouple (e.g., KX), maintaining high accuracy over a wider temperature range (e.g., -40°C to 200°C), but at a higher cost.

Compensating Wires: The conductor alloy is different from the thermocouple but has matching thermoelectric properties (e.g., KCA/KCB), guaranteeing accuracy only within a limited temperature range (e.g., 0-100°C), and at a lower cost.
